Description

The factory fuel line between the fuel filter housing and CP3 injection pump is one of the smallest sections of the fuel supply system on the 2007.5–2009 6.7L Cummins.

Although the factory in-tank lift pump may be capable of supplying the engine, fuel leaving the filter housing must still pass through a small pressed-on nylon line and restrictive fittings before reaching the CP3. This becomes especially important when upgrading the lift pump or increasing the engine’s fuel demand.

The Glacier Diesel Power Big Line Kit replaces that restrictive factory assembly with custom stainless-steel adapters, full-size 3/8-inch Push-Lok fuel hose, quality fittings, and the required clamps. Why Upgrade the Factory Fuel Line?

Installing a larger or higher-output lift pump does not remove the small factory line between the filter housing and CP3. Fuel must still pass through that original restriction before reaching the high-pressure injection pump.

Fuel pressure is produced by the lift pump and affected by the condition of the filters, tank pickup, hoses, fittings, electrical supply, and the engine’s fuel demand. The purpose of the Big Line Kit is to reduce pressure loss through a restrictive portion of the supply system.

When diagnosing low fuel pressure, test the system under load—not only at idle. A truck may show acceptable pressure in the shop but experience a greater pressure drop during acceleration, towing, or sustained engine load.

Installing a properly located fuel-pressure gauge or test fitting can help determine whether the lift pump is maintaining adequate supply pressure at the CP3 inlet.

Why Glacier Built It This Way

We did not want to replace the factory nylon line while leaving the same restrictive fittings in place.

Glacier developed custom stainless-steel adapters that increase the internal passage through the connection points and transition directly into full-size 3/8-inch Push-Lok plumbing. This addresses the entire restrictive section rather than simply replacing the visible hose.

Stainless steel provides excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term durability in diesel fuel applications. It also allows the adapters to maintain precise sealing surfaces where they connect to the factory filter housing and CP3.

Push-Lok hose and fittings were selected because they provide a secure, dependable connection while keeping the system serviceable. Unlike the factory pressed-on nylon assembly, the Glacier line can be inspected, removed, and serviced using conventional tools.

The system is intentionally simple: quality adapters, properly sized hose, dependable fittings, and no unnecessary complexity.

Increased Flow Area Through the Fittings

The factory fittings have an internal diameter of approximately 0.185 inch. Glacier’s stainless-steel fittings increase that passage to approximately 0.300 inch.

Because flow area is based on the square of the radius, the improvement is considerably greater than the diameter comparison alone suggests. The 0.300-inch opening provides approximately 2.6 times the cross-sectional area of the 0.185-inch factory passage.

That does not mean the truck will automatically flow 2.6 times more fuel. Actual fuel delivery remains dependent on the lift pump, filters, plumbing, pressure regulation, and demand. It does mean the Glacier fitting presents substantially more available passage area and removes a known restriction from the system.
