Description

'98.5-'02 Dodge Ram 5.9L GDP Fuel Boss Mechanical Lift Pump System

The top offering in the GDP pump line is the FUEL BOSS mechanical lift pump system. The FUEL BOSS is a belt driven mechanical lift pump that increase output and pressure to match engine RPM.

Common electronic failures of the factory lift pump are eliminated. No more worries of carrying a spare pump in the tool box. The stock lift pump will now only run for a few seconds at each start. After startup the stock unit is turned off via a Hobbs pressure switch and will not run again until the next start up cycle. The stock lift pump is not required for proper Fuel Boss operation and is used only for priming the fuel canister after a filter change!

The FB-1000 pump supplied in the FUEL BOSS kit has no bearings to wear out and is a straight cut gear pump capable of pressures well above 100 psi. Running at a 2-1 reduction the FB-1000 turns only half of the engines RPM which is a mere 25% of its rated RPM at cruise. With proper belt tension the FB-1000 will easily last the life of your truck!

Extreme pump longevity is only one of the numerous benefits provided by the FUEL BOSS system. All FUEL BOSS pumps also come equipped with a 100% Viton lip seal which makes them perfect for ULSD, Bio Diesel use and Veg Oil conversions.

FUEL BOSS drive systems are comprised of high strength polycarbonate drive pulleys and nylon covered, fiberglass reinforced, neoprene belts. Belt changes are recommended at 50k to 75k intervals.

Tied to the engine’s RPM via the crank mounted drive pulley the FUEL BOSS will increase output and pressure any time you increase engine RPM. This is truly an engine driven high output system! Minimum fuel pressures at idle and maximum flow at engine redline, just the way it should have been from the factory. Tap the throttle and watch your fuel pressure gauge rise instead of fall!

The FUEL BOSS can fuel any truck from stock to the wildest, Hot Rod VP fed power plant imaginable! For extreme trucks we offer a Hyper-Drive belt and pulley combo which will increase pump speed and output an additional 20% over the stock 2 to 1 drive combo provided.

**Note**
Only for trucks with stock harmonic balancers. Due to dimensional differences this system will not work with aftermarket harmonic balancers such as the Fluidampr® brand balancers.

**Note** Not for use on trucks with an in-tank conversion. If your truck has been converted to an in-tank pump please contact us and we will build a system for your application.

Been running this lift pump on my 2001 Ram 2500 for 4-5 years now...awesome! No issues, no maintenance, constant fuel pressure keeping my VP44 happy! Happy I went mechanical and not electrical.

The ONLY Lift Pump you should ever buy

First off - Richard is the boss. Will never hesitate to order from him again. Second - This lift pump PUMPS! Don't mess around with others. I've had 3 DDRPs and 1 FASS and will never look back. The only time my gauge needle sits below 15psi is when the truck is off!

Fuel Boss is the Boss!

I've been running this for a year now.
Couldn't be happier. Please don't waste your money on another electrical pump that will predictably fail. This mechanical unit is the real deal. The kit is completely complete, excellent customer service, very clear installation instructions.
Thank you Glacier Diesel for this great solution!

Boss lift pump is the answer!

4 stock Carter pumps later I finally decided to fix this nagging and costly problem. It's so nice to see fuel pressure that I know is doing the VP44 pump good instead of damaging it. Richard...you can't ask for anyone better to deal with, keep up your excellent customer service and you'll sell alot of these units. Good luck and i'll send as many people your way as I can!

I never should have waited to try one of these. I don't think twice about taking my RV cross country anymore. Goodbye lift pump worries! Thanx Richard!

What an awesome system! 15 psi at idle and 19 psi at WOT! Even the big sticks and Hot Rod VP can't pull it down. I'm just sorry I wasted so much money on stock lift pumps before I found the Boss!

Fuel Boss purchased in Aug2017.. and still pumping without an issue

This is a 5yr (and running) Review:
I hope somebody that is on the fence about buying this system reads this.
I purchased this system 5yrs ago and my choices were between 2 different "brand name" electric pumps. I accidently came across the Fuel Boss while digging deep in one of the forums as an alternative to an electric pump. As the 5yr mark passed, I can say "This pump is Amazing."
I have made cross-country runs on my truck and through different environments, such as the Cold weather in Colorado to Hottest hot in South Texas. The other crazy thing is.. Im still on the same belt that came with the system (Now, for the a piece of truth in my review.. I have a spare belt because.. SHHHii.. Stuff Happens on the road and the belt is unique enough to warrant a spare on hand).

**Would I recommend the Fuel Boss:
Absolutely 100% without question.

**When I get asked, If I would buy again from Glacier Diesel, not only (Hell Yeah!!) but I can show them the (Title is directly from email confirming purchase) '98.5-'02 Dodge Ram 5.9L GDP MK-10 + Big Line Kit (heated) that I bought in Mar 2021.

The reliability of the system has surpassed my expectations. Do I still own my 2000 Dodge 2500, Yes it is in my driveway. Is there any kind of maintenance required to add longevity to the Fuel Boss: None, I have not done a single maintenance related action to this system.

Now, here are some of the things that many will leave out.
1. You absolutely, positively need/require a strainer filter before the Fuel Boss pump (FLEETGUARD FF5079 3/8 STRAINER). Diesel fuel is dirty and sometimes has rust chips and/or debris from the pump station. This will cause obstructions in the bypass check valve and it is only a matter of time before it happens and when it does you will see pressure drop to zero (00.00) psi. Get a FF5079 filter.
2. You may install this system and only see (XX-insert pressure reading observed-XX)psi, NO Worries, I shimmed the bypass check valve adding more spring pressure.. and "Walla!!" increased my pressure to 19psi. ***My observations were for every 1/16in of shim, it bumped up the pressure by 2.5psi [YMMV].***
3. I bungled up the initial install, I installed the check valve backwards (lol), I did this, that.. but you know why I actually completed the install, because of Richard Martin. I had some ridiculous questions for the man.... he sent me an email with his phone number and Richard explained where I went wrong and how to fix. I honestly believe the reason why everything is pre-fitted and displayed on the website.. the way it is, ...is because of this knuckle head.
