Glacier Diesel Power 2007.5–2012 Dodge Ram 6.7L Cummins Air-Boss Intake Plenum – Pickup (07510-ABIP)

Description

The factory 6.7L Cummins intake plenum and grid heater assembly create a significant restriction directly before the intake manifold. For Cummins owners looking to improve airflow, reduce EGTs, and get more from their existing performance upgrades, the Glacier Diesel Power Air-Boss Intake Plenum provides a proven solution.

The Air-Boss isn't simply a flat grid heater delete plate. It is a CNC-machined billet aluminum, internally elevated intake plenum specifically engineered to increase the available airflow area and improve air distribution toward cylinders 4, 5, and 6.

Through careful machining, Glacier Diesel Power was able to gain an additional .220" of internal plenum height while still retaining the factory mounting hardware. That additional internal space creates more room for incoming air to move through the intake system without requiring the cylinder head to be milled for a fabricated intake plenum.

Pair the Air-Boss with one of Glacier Diesel Power's high-flow intake manifolds and you have a serious bolt-on airflow package capable of supporting everything from daily-driven and towing applications to high-performance Cummins builds.

Most importantly, this isn't a generic replacement plate. The Air-Boss is a purpose-built billet performance component designed and manufactured by Glacier Diesel Power in the USA.

Why Upgrade to the Air-Boss?

Airflow entering the intake manifold has to first make its way through the factory intake plenum and grid heater assembly. Removing the heater alone eliminates one restriction, but simply replacing it with a flat plate doesn't address the limited space available inside the factory plenum.

That's where the Air-Boss is different.

Instead of being a simple flat delete plate, the Air-Boss extends upward internally to create additional room for airflow. Glacier Diesel Power gained approximately .220" of internal height while maintaining compatibility with the factory mounting hardware.

The result is a bolt-on intake plenum designed to help provide:

  • Increased airflow
  • Improved airflow toward the rear cylinders
  • Reduced intake restriction
  • Lower EGTs
  • Better use of available fueling
  • Improved support for larger turbochargers and performance upgrades

More Than a Grid Heater Delete

There are plenty of flat grid heater delete plates on the market.

The Air-Boss isn't one of them.

The entire purpose behind the Air-Boss design was to take advantage of the limited space above the cylinder head and create additional internal plenum volume without requiring permanent modification to the head.

That elevated billet design is what separates the Air-Boss from a basic flat plate.

For customers looking for the largest bolt-on airflow improvement possible without milling the factory cast plenum from the cylinder head and moving to a fully fabricated intake system, the Air-Boss provides a proven alternative—especially when combined with a Glacier Diesel Power intake manifold.

Glacier Tech Tip

Removing the factory grid heater means the truck will no longer have the original intake heater in that location.

If you live in a colder climate or simply want to retain dependable cold-weather starting, Glacier Diesel Power offers our Mega-Flo Arctic Grid Heater systems, which relocate the heating element away from the factory intake plenum while allowing you to retain the airflow advantages of the Air-Boss.

This gives you the ability to build a high-flow intake system without necessarily giving up intake air heating altogether. Glacier currently offers Air-Boss and Arctic Grid Heater packages specifically for these applications.

Why Choose Glacier Diesel Power?

The Air-Boss is a great example of what Glacier Diesel Power has always been about: don't just remove a restriction—engineer a better solution.

Instead of producing another flat aluminum grid heater delete plate, Glacier designed a billet plenum that uses the available space above the cylinder head to create additional internal clearance and improve airflow where the factory system is most restricted.

The result is a product that's simple in appearance but carefully engineered where it matters.

Factory Intake Plenum Limitations

The factory grid heater occupies valuable space directly in the intake airflow path. For stock applications that may be acceptable, but as turbocharger size, fueling, boost, and overall airflow demand increase, restrictions in the intake system become increasingly important.

A basic grid heater delete removes the heating element but leaves you with a flat cover over the factory plenum.

The Air-Boss takes the concept significantly further by using an internally elevated billet design to gain additional clearance and provide more room for airflow—particularly toward cylinders 4, 5, and 6.
